Matthew James Kennedy

Beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 22, 2026, at McLaren Bay Region, with his family at his side. Age 60 years.

The son of Susannah (Stark) and the late Thomas Kennedy, Matt was born on October 23, 1965, in Saginaw, Michigan. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School with the class of 1983. Matt married the love of his life, Jann Klein on September 21, 1996. They shared many wonderful years together. She survives him. Matt dedicated 33 years to Kavanaugh Trucking, hauling United States Postal Mail with loyalty and commitment. Most recently, he found joy in his work at Traffic Management Inc. He was an avid bowler and recently enjoyed deer hunting with both of his sons. Matt was always had a Mountain Dew in hand and loved watching the Detroit Lions Football games. In keeping with his giving nature, Matt made the generous decision to be a tissue donor through Gift of Life.

Surviving besides his wife, Jann Kennedy; are their sons, James Kennedy, John Kennedy; mother, Susannah Kennedy; sisters and brother, Karen Sullivan, Gail Norris, Sandra Hagood, Julie Okowit, Mark (Connie) Kennedy; and sister-in-law, Amparo Kennedy. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Besides his father, Matt was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Kennedy; brothers-in-law, William Sullivan, Chet Norris, Daniel Hagood, Dominic Okowit; and nephew, Brendan Kennedy.

Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026, at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603. Rev. Julie Bailey will officiate. Honoring Matt’s wishes, cremation will follow. Friends may visit the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral chapel. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to a charity of the donor’s choice.
