Matthew Jay McCormick age 63 of Thornton, Colorado, formerly of Merrill passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 5, 2021. He was born September 3,1957 in Saginaw, the son of John (Jack) and Julia McCormick.

He was a 1976 graduate of Merrill High School. Matt moved to Colorado and worked in the car business before becoming an operator (city bus driver) for RTD. He was loved by many in his life, had a beautiful smile and an infectious laugh.

Surviving are his mother, Julia McCormick of Merrill; his sisters and brother, Kimberly (James) Rummler, Karen McCormick, Michael (Pam) McCormick, all of Saginaw and Mark (Shelley) McCormick of Winter Springs FL; his nieces, Amanda Sunshine, Taylor Graf, Lily Hare, Alex McCormick and Michelle Rich; and nephew, Matt Putnam. He was preceded in death by his father, John (Jack) McCormick and nephew, Eric Richnak.

Honoring Matt’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A committal service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021, at Sacred Heart Cemetery, in Merrill. The family will welcome guests starting at Noon. Please join us in celebrating Matt’s life.
