Obituary

MaryLou (Keene) Stephens was born on November 30, 1934 in Saginaw, MI to Walter and Robina (Thompson) Keene. She was the youngest of seven children. MaryLou married Elmer Stephens on November 29, 1953.

MaryLou worked as a dietician for the Salvation Army day care for 21 years. She retired in 1994 to care full-time for her husband.

MaryLou looked forward to spending time up north with Elmer, visits with her grandkids and great-grandkids, and sewing. She donated quilts to Covenant hospital’s NICU and the Aleda E. Lutz VA hospital. She also donated to charities such as St. Jude’s Children’s hospital, Wounded Warrior Project, and Boys Town.

MaryLou and Elmer had ten children - Beverly (Rick) Rodriguez, Michael (Sherry) Stephens, Brayton (Lottie) Stephens, Kim (Sylvia) Stephens, Sandy (Rick) Meier, Andy Stephens, Patsy Stephens, Peggy (Kenny) Meier, Shirley (Jim) Bishop, and Wendy Stephens (Neil Davis) - 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

MaryLou is survived by her children and her grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents; husband; her daughter-in-law, Sherry Stephens; two grandsons, Joseph Rodriguez and Brian Stephens; and her six siblings.

The funeral service will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026 at W. L. case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603, where friends may visit with the family from 11:30 a.m. until time of the service. Rev. Charles Campbell will officiate the service and interment will take place in Roselawn Memorial Gardens following the service.. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial donation to hospice, or a charity of your choice, in MaryLou’s name.
