Passed away Saturday, January 8, 2022, at St. Mary’s Hospital. Age 86 years.
Mary Pauline Chavez was born October 12, 1935 to the late Jesse and Helen Liguez in College Station, Texas. She followed her sister to Saginaw, Michigan. She was married to Alexander Chavez, November 29, 1958. Her husband of 59 years passed away May 12, 2018. Mary was a full-time mother and was also employed by Hoyt Nursing Home as a Nurse’s Aid for a short time. She was also a caregiver for her mother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, was constantly busy with her favorite hobbies, reading, Crocheting, embroidery, sewing and shopping with her daughter. Mary lived a full life as a wife, mother, sister and friend.
Surviving are her son, Michael J. Chavez, Mt. Pleasant, MI; her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia A. and Vincent P. Duffy, Chicago, IL; a brother, Mathew Liguez, Arlington, TX; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, parents and three sisters, Diemma Villareal, Mary Louise Watts and Lillie Case.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish, St. Helen Church, 2445 N. Charles St. Saginaw, MI 48602. Rev. Baltha Raj will officiate. Friends and family may visit at the church form 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial funeral liturgy.
