Mary Elizabeth Goff

Bay City, MI

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2024. Age 83 years. Mary was born on November 6, 1940, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Robert James and Vera (Enszer) Salgat. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School and then went on to Hurley Hospital in Flint to become a Registered Nurse. Mary married Thomas J. Goff on February 9, 1963; he survives her. Mary spent many years working as a nurse at Hurley, Mercy and Bay Medical Center hospitals before retiring from Blue Care Network in early 2002. Mary was a loving mother and she adored her five granddaughters. Mary loved traveling and she and Tom spent many years wintering in Nokomis, Florida where she enjoyed going to the pier to watch the dolphins play at sunset. Mary was also an avid doll collector and enjoyed making jewelry, especially bracelets. Over her life she must have sold or given away thousands.

Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Thomas Goff, two daughters: Susan (Terence) Horstman and Margaret (Dean) Schroeder; five grandchildren Jessica (Jason) Smith, Rachel (Ryan Bruns) Horstman, Alyssa (Mitchell Trost) Horstman, Audrey Schroeder, Claire Schroeder and her fiancee Ryan Schaffer; great-grandson, Connor, a beloved sister-in-law Judy Nash, dear friends Rhea and Jim Thompson; a special cousin Suzanne Swanton, as well as many other friends and relatives.

She was predeceased by her father, Robert James, mother Vera Salgat, step-father James Salgat, and father- and mother-in-law, Clair and Lila Goff.
