Mary Ann Franz (Rossow)

Mary Ann Franz (Rossow) of Freeland

Passed away on Monday, October 10th, 2022, in Saginaw. She was born on May 14th, 1951, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Wilbert & Bernice (Preuss) Rossow, and graduated from Arthur Hill High School, before going on to complete a Bachelor’s degree at Central Michigan University, and finally a Master’s degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University. Education was Mary’s passion; she taught Special Education at Bridgeport-Spaulding Community Schools for 47 years and touched the lives of many children. She felt there wasn’t a child who couldn’t grow through education and delighted in supporting her Bridgeport Bearcat family. She met Dave Franz at work while attending school at Central Michigan and the two quickly bonded over their shared experience in Mt. Pleasant. They would marry on August 9th, 1975, and spend over 47 years together. He survives her.

Mary’s life can be described as revolving around three things: Family, Faith, and Friends. She loved to spend time helping her grandson with school and reading together and never missed a game that Dave coached at Freeland High School. Mary spent much of her free time watching the Hallmark channel and sports. She enjoyed traveling with family to their home in Southwest Florida and her happy place on Houghton Lake. She was an avid shopper who showed her affection by showering her friends and family with gifts. She loved the holidays and never forgot a birthday. It was important to Mary that people were made to feel special. She loved when her family gathered and was happiest laughing and sharing stories with them.

Mary is remembered as being an organized person who made sure everything was always in its right place. She was hardworking and loved her family fiercely and unconditionally. Most importantly, Mary is remembered as someone who was the foundation of her family. She was loving, kind, and selfless

Mary is survived by her husband of 47 years, Dave Franz; children Rebecca (Chris) Ehrhardt, Dr. Rachel (Jordan) Franz, and Joshua Franz; grandchild Wesley Ehrhardt; siblings Gloria (Terry) David, Don (Luann) Rossow, and Randy (Sue) Rossow; and niece Stacey (Joelle) Davis, who was like a daughter to her; as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by parents Wilbert & Bernice Rossow.

In accordance with Mary’s wishes, cremation is to take place, with a memorial service celebrating Mary’s life at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 15th, 2022, at Christ Lutheran Church, 8795 Ederer Rd., Saginaw, with Pastor Joshua Becker presiding.
