Mary Foy (Antoszewski)

Mary Antoszewski Foy of Hemlock, Michigan

Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at Edgewood Assisted Living in Saginaw. She was 98 years old.

Mary Foy was born on April 4, 1924 in St. Charles, Michigan, to the late Stephen and Eva Antoszewski who raised her on their farm in St. Charles, and was a 1943 graduate of St. Charles High School. After graduating, she worked in banking for five years, but her real job was being a dedicated farm wife and mother who raised 7 children. Mary and Leo Foy were married on October 25, 1947, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Charles. Leo preceded her in death on January 12, 1987.

Mary found time to be an engaged and active member of her community, dedicating her time to the Altar Guild, the League of Catholic Women, St. Francis Nursing Home, the Polish Alliance, and St. John XXII Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church in Hemlock where she was a devout member. She also visited the elderly and assisted with funeral meals. Mary enjoyed bird songs, polka music, the bright color of flowers, and the joy she found in her vegetable garden. Her Polish heritage was important to her; she was very happy to teach Polish words to others, especially thank you, you're welcome and may you drink with God. Mary is remembered as a down to earth woman with great inner strength who was selfless, appreciative and generous.

Surviving are six children: Stephen (Jo Ann Franz) of Greenbush MI; Joanne Foy of East Lansing MI, Rose Foy of Hemlock MI, Barbara (Rob) Smith of Indianapolis IN, Timothy (Janet) Foy of Holt MI, and Christine (Gary) Robishaw of Freeland MI; 12 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are special nieces Linda Wisniewski-Brownlie and Jeanne Sekelsky and nephew Mark Wisniewski.

Mary was pre-deceased by her husband, Leo; parents Stephen and Eva Antoszewski; daughter, Patricia Windy; and grandson Matthew Foy and two siblings: Stanley Antoszewski and Geneva Wisniewski.

A Funeral Liturgy will take place at at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary Catholic Church, 151 St. Marys Drive in Hemlock, on Friday, December 30, at 11:00am. Rev. Fr. Michael F. Steltenkamp S.J. will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church from 10:00am until the time of the service.
