Beloved mother, grandmother, and sister passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at her home, with her family at her side. At the age of 86 years.

Mary Ellen Quiroz was born on September 13, 1937, in El Paso, Texas. She married the love of her life, Feliberto Cano “Gil” Lopez, on January 13, 1968. He preceded her in death on January 7, 2014. Mary Ellen worked at General Motors, retiring after 32 years of loyal and dedicated service. She also worked at McDonald’s on Mackinaw Road for many years. Mary Ellen was a proud and active member of the UAW Local 467. She will fondly be remembered for her ability to share witty jokes, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Mary Ellen enjoyed camping, baking, playing Mexican Bingo, and trying her luck at the casino. 

Surviving are her daughter, Sandra Lopez; granddaughter, Olivia Lopez; the father of Olivia, Jason Mioduch; her beloved fur babies, Tilly and Cinny; brothers, Manuel (Denise) Dosal, Johnny Aguilar; sister, Sylvia Vasquez (Dave). Also surviving from a previous marriage, a daughter, Mary Vasquez; and a son, David Vasquez, Jr.; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Besides her husband and her parents, Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her son, Gilbert Vasquez; sister, Juanita “Pee-Wee” (Woody) Levario; brother, Sylvester Aguilar, and sister-in-law, Amy Aguilar. 

Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603. Rev. Fr. Steven Gavit will officiate with burial to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may wish to visit with the family from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 24, 2024, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral chapel.
