Mary Louise Cary

Mary Louise Cary of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 21, 2023, her 62nd wedding anniversary, after a lengthy illness. Mary was born on December 29, 1939, to the late Lawrence and Violet (Tapken) Meyers. One of 11 children, they were a large and loving family. She was a proud 1957 graduate of Saginaw High School. The former Mary Louise Meyers married Edward John Cary on October 21, 1961; he survives her. Mary worked at Michigan Bell until her children were born, then was a proud stay at home mom for several years. She became the friendly "lunch lady" at Shields Junior High School for several years and volunteered at the polling station in Thomas Township before retiring with her husband. Mary enjoyed traveling with her husband, camping with her family, trips with her sisters to Las Vegas, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to visit cousins, and her Tuesday casino trips. Most of all, Mary loved her family. She did not ask for much, mostly to keep the birdfeeders full, as she was an avid bird watcher, her favorite being the Cardinal.

Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Edward Cary; daughter, Kimberly (Gary) Murphy; son, John (Michelle) Cary; two sisters: Sharon (Rick) Hillman and Kathy Sharrar; two brothers: Gene "Bruce" (Lae) Meyers and Dennis Meyers; sister-in-law, Tracy Cary; brother-in-law, Thomas (Sherry) Cary; three grandsons: Andrew Green, Shawn (Tara) Murphy, and Bryan (Ashley) Murphy; two granddaughters: Jessica Soriteu and Madison Bridges; four great-grandchildren: Taeton Tovar, Bo Bridges, Nash Bridges, and Connor Murphy. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Violet Meyers; father- and mother-in-law, Neal and Margaret Cary; brother-in-law, James Cary; two sisters: Judith Fulco and Carol Phillips; four brothers: Donald Meyers, William Clark, Gary Meyers, and David Stewart; a niece, Cheryl Robinson; and a grandson, Tyler James Kretz.
