Martin "Marty" Joseph Ignasinski Jr.

Beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother passed away unexpectedly in his home in Saginaw on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024, at the age of 82. Marty was born on April 13th, 1941, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Martin & Victoria (Tomaszewski) Ignasinski, Sr., and was a 1959 graduate of Holy Family Catholic High School. Following high school, Marty enlisted in the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country from 1960 until his honorable discharge in 1966. He married Shirley Lichon on June 22nd, 1994, in Kalispell, Montana, and the pair would spend 27 years in marriage together until her passing on April 18th, 2021. Marty worked as a machine repairman for General Motors and served as a union representative for the local UAW chapter. He spent time earlier in life as a plumber with his father and loved fixing small engines. In his free time, Marty was a chapter member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association and was thrilled to meet countless people throughout the United States and Canada while riding. He enjoyed camping and grew many veggies in the garden behind his house, especially green beans and tomatoes. He also proudly kept Shirley’s prized lilies thriving as a tribute to her. Marty loved watching sports and was a die-hard University of Michigan fan who was thrilled to see them win the National Championship just a day before his passing. He is remembered as a caring, if strong-willed man who loved his family to death, and who was a friend to anyone he met.

Marty is survived by children: Lora Morrell, Robert Morrell, Lois (Kurt) Akin, Joe (Becky) Ignasinski, Jay Ignasinski; grandchildren Ryan (Sara) Morrell- Peters, Jessica (Kevin) Whitney, Luke (Kaitlyn) Morrell, Lyndsy Stull, Caitlin Phillips, and Allison (Chuck Sparks) Graham; great- grandchildren: Nora Peters, Thomas Peters, Annalise Whitney, Nora Whitney, Charlotte Morrell, James Morrell, MacKenzie Rosa, Michael Garcia, Jr., Maverick Garcia, Cahlani Sparks, Caylei Sparks, and Carter Sparks; brothers-in-law Steven Anscomb and Richard (Dianne) Lichon; sister-in-law Elaine (Paul) Kucher; and nephew Steve Anscomb; as well as many other family members, countless friends, and his beloved dog Mitsy.
