Martin "Marty" Everett Court

Burton, Michigan

Beloved husband, son, father, and grandfather passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Hurley Medical Center, Flint, with his family at his side; at the age of 59 years.

The son of Carol A. (Murphy) Glazier and the late Roy J. Court, Marty was born on October 1, 1963, in St. Johns, Michigan. He grew up in Merrill, Michigan and graduated from Breckenridge High School with the class of 1982. Marty gathered his Family Life Education Bachelor’s Degree at Spring Arbor University; then acquired his Organizational Leadership Master’s Degree at Philadelphia Biblical University. He married Rachel E. Massengale on December 29, 1995, at Greenfield Village, Dearborn, Michigan; she survives him. Marty had a successful career in sales, while also finding ways to help the community. He was a member of Real Life Church, Montrose, Michigan. Marty enjoyed sports; he had a “love-hate relationship” with the Detroit Lions. Marty’s role of a lifetime was being a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will fondly be remembered as the life of the party. His gift was being able to make connections with anyone he met and share many humorous jokes. Above all, Marty cherished the time with his family and his grandchildren.

Surviving besides his wife, Rachel E. Court; is his mother: Carol A. (Ralph) Glazier; sons and daughters: Keith Court (Sally Foster), their children: Landen and Owen; Samantha (Triston) Evans, their son: Maverick; Rebecca Yunk, her children: Lucy and Ryder; Seth Court; Hannah Court; sisters: Kim (Peter) Osterloh, Karen Court, (Brock Wyeth), Keyna Court (Ken Euler), David (Tiffany) Court. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Besides his father; Marty was preceded in death by his brother: Mike Court.

Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at W. L. Case and Company, 125 E. Saginaw Street, Merrill, Michigan 48637. Rev. Richard Gossett will officiate. Honoring Marty’s wishes, cremation will follow. Friends may visit the family from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral chapel.
