Mark Anthony Sawatzki of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved brother, uncle, great-uncle, and frined passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper. He was 67 years old. Mark Anthonoy Sawatzki was born on September 12, 1958, in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Frederick and Anna (Fila) Sawatzki. He was a proud 1976 graduate of Bridgeport High School where he participated on the varsity football team. Following graduation, he began working at S&H Tire on Holland in Saginaw. Helpful and handy, he also assisted in laying carpeting. Mark grew up and was a member of the Catholic Faith. As a young man, he enjoyed playing the guitar and listing to all music, especially country western. Mark was a great uncle, playful, patient, and always present in the lives of his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed watching television, especially sports, always cheering for his favorite football team, the Detroit Lions. Mark will forever be remembered for his soft sense of humor, the kindness and love he had for his family, and for quietly reflecting on all the memories and stories he created over the years.
Surviving are four siblings: Marcia (Pete) Provencher of Saginaw; Linda Bell of Ann Arbor, Alan (Marcy) Sawatzki of Saginaw; Debra (Tom) Abraitis of Saginaw; and a sister-in-law, Rosanne Shimatz of Detroit. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends too numerous to mention, but held closely to his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Anna Sawatzki; a brother, Gary Sawatzki; two nieces: Emily Bell and Jodi Sawatzki; and a nephew, Dean Provencher.
A funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd., Saginaw, MI 48603.
