Marie H. Baker of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, August 21, 2025. She was 95 years old. Marie H. Marshall was born on November 5, 1929, in Moran, Michigan, to the late August and Roseanna (Beauregard) Marshall. She attended her formative years in Moran, Michigan. In the 1950’s Marie and her family made Saginaw, Michigan, their home. Marie married Victor V. Vallier on June 23, 1946; he preceded her in death in September 16, 1977. She later married John “Jack” Frederick Baker on March 25, 1978; he preceded her in death on September 8, 2013. Marie was a longtime faithful member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church and assisted in preparing food for funeral luncheons. Marie was a bartender for many years at Nightengale’s near Steering Gear. She then began working on the assembly line for Kretchmer’s Wheat Germ, retiring with over 20 years of loyal and dedicated service. The role she loved the most was to be a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Marie loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with her husband and family camping. She also enjoyed canning, baking, and cooking, especially frying her famous fish. Everything Marie cooked or baked was made with “love” the secret ingredient for making everything she made taste good. Marie also enjoyed planting her flowers and tending to her garden. Family made her heart feel full, and she treasured and cherished the many gatherings held over the years. Hard working her entire life, Marie will forever be remembered for having a beer from time to time with those she loved, for her selflessness to anyone in need, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many wonderful memories and stories.
