Our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and aunt passed away on Monday, July 13, 2020 at the age of 80 years.
She was born on March 17, 1940 in Muskegon, MI to the late Edward M. and Lois (Lubert) Higgins. Marian graduated from S.H.S. the class of 1958, and enjoyed her breakfasts with classmates at Fuzzy’s for many years. She married Thomas R. Hales on April 29, 1961; he predeceased her on January 17, 2016 after 55 years of marriage. Marian enjoyed reading, BINGO, and spending time with her club of 55 years and playing cards with family and friends. She most especially cherished time with her grandchildren and time spent at the cottages at Houghton Lake, Hale, and Tawas with her family.
Surviving are her children: Tracey Gilmore of Saginaw; Jeffrey (Raquel) Hales, Imlay City, MI; grandchildren: Torry Vitek, Sophie and Emily Gilmore, Katylin Spriggs; her siblings: Ed (Lorrie) Higgins, Dave (Remy) Higgins, Marcia Corbin, Mike Ball; her brothers and sisters-in-law: Don (Sandy) Hales, Marsha Hales, Barbara Bryant, Betty (Dale) Gillespie and many nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends. Besides her husband Thomas, she was predeceased by her sister, Lois Milwrick, step-father, Dick (Lois) Ball, her step-sister Nancy Ball and nephew Neil Corbin.
Memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2020 at the W. L. Case and Company, 201 N. Miller Rd. Pastor Dan Davis will officiate. Honoring Marian’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral chapel on Thursday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Hopevale Church. Due to the worldwide pandemic, we are asking all visitors to wear face coverings while inside the funeral chapel.
