Maria was born in Lima, Peru the daughter of the late Alphonso and Dora (Luz) Contreres. Maria is survived by her son, Frank Karasienski; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her brother, Frank Contreres and a sister, Lupita D'Aelleso.
