Beloved sister, aunt and great-aunt passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Shields Comfort Care, with her family at her side; at the age of 90 years.

The daughter of late Malcolm and Marie (LaClair) McDonald, Margaret was born on August 15, 1930 in Fremont Township, Michigan. She graduated from Hemlock High School with the class of 1948 as the Salutatorian. Margaret married the love of her life, Tony Hatzke on July 14, 1951 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Hemlock, Michigan; he preceded her in death on December 30, 2020. She worked for Wickes Lumber Company for 30 years of dedicated and loyal service. She enjoyed gardening and crafting. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family.

Surviving is her sister: Louise Rohde of Hemlock. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Besides her husband and her parents; Margaret was preceded in death by her infant sister: Mary Louise McDonald; and her beloved dog: Bear.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to caretakers at Shields Comfort Care and Elara Caring Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of Margaret.

Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 6, 2021 at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary Catholic Church, 151 St. Mary Drive, Hemlock. Rev. Fr. Michael F. Steltenkamp, S.J. will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. Friends may visit the family from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass on Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. John XXIII Parish or Elara Caring Hospice.
