Loving mother, grandmother, wife, sister, cousin, and friend passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, November 5th, at Bickford Assisted Living in Saginaw, Michigan. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Delbert and Ethelyn Siler. A 1955 graduate of Arthur Hill High School, Lynn went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree from Albion College where she was a proud member of Kappa Alpha Theta. Lynn then completed the internship program at St. Lukes Hospital Medical Technology School, graduating as a medical technologist. She then worked for several years in the prestigious Simpson Memorial Institute research program at Michigan Medicine before returning to Saginaw and working many years for Professional Laboratory.
Lynn married the love of her life, Gerry Garcia, on October 19th, 1963, in Saginaw where they then resided and raised their family; her beloved preceded her in death in 2024. Lynn’s most cherished and treasured role in life was that of a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her pieces of Heaven were her six beloved grandchildren, and Lynn poured love into each of them. Lynn loved to be surrounded by her family and friends, especially spending time at the family cottages on Manistee Lake, annual trips to the U.P. to visit her brother Dell’s family, and spending winters with friends and family in Fort Myers, Florida. She had a special group of friends affectionately called the “Fog & Smoggers” and shared many adventures throughout life with this group.
An avid reader, Lynn enjoyed book club with friends for many years. She was also an active PEO member. Past member of First Congregational Church, Lynn most recently attended Grace Valley Church in Saginaw. Lynn loved the peace and tranquility nature brought to her life. She found joy in nature and the outdoors and spent time gardening in her beautiful flower filled yard. Lynn loved all animals, with a particular passion for watching and identifying birds—Loons and Owls were her favorites. Her bag with binoculars and bird books was a staple for any of her travels.
She had a beautiful, gentle soul and all who knew Lynn loved her. She was most known for her infectious bright smile, and how she made people feel special and valued by remembering personal details; she was incredibly thoughtful and intentional with her conversations. Even through extended sickness and affliction, she handled it with grace and a positive attitude. Gentle, but also strong and courageous, she was a steadying presence for all within her family. And perhaps a bit stubborn, Lynn refused to give up, surviving 3 ½ years beyond the 1-2 week life expectancy given by doctors, and continued to bless all of those who lovingly cared for her over these years with her smiles and bright spirit. A woman who lived life fully; adventurous, loving others, finding joy wherever she was, and always blessing those around her.
Surviving are her three children and their spouses: Lisa (Jake) Garcia-Herr; Pete (Heidi) Garcia; Bill (Sandra) Garcia; six grandchildren: Austin (Heidi) and Caden Herr; Savannah and Gavan Garcia; Noah and Macy Garcia; sister-in-law, Lorraine Siler; sister-in-law, Roberta Garcia; brother-in-law, Dudley (Linda) Garcia. Also surviving are many cousins, nieces, nephews, family, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerry Garcia; brother Dell Siler; parents Dr. Delbert and Ethelyn Siler; and mother-in-law and father-in-law Marion and Joe Garcia.
Honoring Lynn’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Grace Valley Church, 4570 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603. Chaplain Kelly Iseman and Pastor Kurt Cullison will officiate the service. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider donations to Amazing Grace Animal Shelter in Saginaw. Arrangements have been entrusted to the W.L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw. Please share your thoughts and memories with the family at the church or through www.casefuneralhome.com.
