Lorraine Rose Hill

Lorraine Rose Hill of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Monday, February 5, 2024, which would have been her husband's 101st birthday. She was 100 years old. Lorraine Rose Gerard was born on September 25, 1923, in Bay City, Michigan, to the late Raymond and Anna (LaRoche) Gerard. As a young girl and lady she attended Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Schools. She married the love of her life, Chester A. Hill, on November 22, 1941, in Bay City, Michigan, at her home parish, Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on May 25, 2005. She and Chet were longtime and faithful members of Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church, and upon moving to Saginaw, they became members of Holy Family Catholic Church. A homemaker her entire life, the role of her lifetime, and one she treasured and cherished her entire life, was to be a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. An excellent cook and exceptional baker, Lorraine enjoyed all family gatherings where she spent hours preparing the perfect meal and dessert. She was infamous for her meat pies and meat dressing. Lorraine also enjoyed playing cards with her family. Following the death of her husband, her son Steven moved in to help with the transition. Together, they enjoyed taking car rides, going to the mall, and out to dinner. While living at Medilodge of Midland, Lorraine became a social butterfly. It was here she looked forward to getting her nails done, playing BINGO, and having lunch with her new friends. Her little piece of heaven was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, who had become the lights of her life. Lorriane will forever be remembered as a kind and selfless woman who always put others before herself and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.

Surviving are three children and their spouses: Chet (Rose) Hill of Saginaw; Linda Crane of Saginaw; Robert (Patricia) Hill of Virginia; a daughter-in-law, Autumn Hill of Virginia; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Margo (Lance) Krager of Bay City. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

She preceded in death by her husband, Chester Hill; three children: Ramona Hill, Steven Hill, and Darrel Hill; a son-in-law, Earl Crane; five siblings: Raymond, Melvin, Lawrence, Theresa, and Audrey.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Medilodge of Midland and MyMichigan Hospice for all the love and care they provided to Lorriane and the family.
