Loretta "Big L" Leaym

Loretta “Big L” Leaym of Vassar, Michigan, formerly of Bridgeport

Beloved wife and mother passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. She was 82 years old. Loretta Brabbs was born on December 28, 1942, in Otisville, Michigan, to the late Elmer Albert and Florence (Furlong) Brabbs. She met her husband, Jack Duane Leaym Jr., while working at Render’s Restaurant in Bridgeport. They were united in marriage October 25, 1976, he survives her. Loretta was employed as a waitress and a manager at Big Boy Restaurant, retiring after many years of loyal and dedicated service to care for her father. She loved cooking and baking, it didn’t matter what she made, everything was always perfect and tasted great. Loretta also enjoyed being outdoors, especially tending to her chickens, or going camping with her family. She will forever be remembered for her selflessness to anyone in need, for remaining fiercely independent in all she did, and for creating many wonderful memories with her husband and family.

Surviving are her husband, Jack D. Leaym Jr. of Vassar; five children: Lisa Rhode, Lynne (Mark) Littlejohn, Lance Collins, Paul Collins, and Joshua Leaym; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded her in death by a son, Ladd Collins; parents, Elmer and Florence Brabbs; and a half brother and sister.

Honoring Lorreta’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to a charity of the donor’s choice. Please share your thoughts and memories with the family through www.casefuneralhome.com.
