Lois K. Kreager peacefully left this world on April 22, 2026, in her home, surrounded by love. In her 86 years of a life well lived she had many roles, the two most important ones being the matriarch of her family and the Founder/CEO of her company, Lois Kay Contracting. Born in Michigan and adopted by her wonderful mother, Bertha A. Sienko, who taught her about faith, family, working hard and laughing often. During high school, she met the handsome Wayne Bernard Kreager, and they married on March 12, 1955. They began their family and moved to Carrollton, where they raised 5 children.
Throughout the years, Lois had several jobs, including being a cashier at a service station and then Ray’s Food Fair. After that, she and Wayne began family business ventures, among them, Kreager Towing, Kreager Auto Sales, T & M Sales and Service, S & G Asphalt, and finally Lois Kay Contracting, a road construction company that does work across the entire state of Michigan. Unlike the other businesses, Lois Kay Contracting was her company. Being a female owner in a male-dominated industry added an immense number of obstacles to overcome. She was a pioneer in the field, and pushed to set an exceptionally high standard for workmanship and innovation. She personified strength and determination in all aspects of her life, but especially when it came to her construction company. The road was not easy, but Lois and her family dug in, spending their lives building a business that is known for quality and expertise.
Outside of business hours, Lois enjoyed many other hobbies and passions. She demonstrated that life also needs faith, friendship and fun. Most of her life she was a member of St. John the Baptist Parish in Carrollton, now St. John Paul II, as well as Prince of Peace in Sun City West, Arizona where she and Wayne spent their winters during the construction off season. Her circle of friends was extensive, whether they knew her since childhood or met much later in life. Being adopted herself, Lois understood the importance of bringing friendship and family to others. Whether that was children, friends, or animals, she was known for her generous heart and love that she extended to everyone. Over the years, she enjoyed countless hobbies, including crocheting, card games, photography, traveling, and shopping. Though they traveled to many places, Lois and Wayne fell in love with Arizona and made it their second home.
After missing him for many years, Lois now joins her beloved husband Wayne in heaven, as well as all the other loved ones who went before, including her parents, daughters Joy and Mary Kreager, and too many friends and family to list. She leaves behind her children, Tim (Linda) Kreager, Mark (Jeanine) Kreager, Beth (Ric) Humpert, and Lynne Parker. She will be forever missed by her grandchildren, Meika and Casey Kreager, Chelsea (Jason) Sample, Matt (Tonya) Kreager, Michele Kreager, Kyle Kreager, Kayla Kemp, Tera (Ian) Pilak, and Erik and Ryan (Marina) Parker, as well as many great-grandchildren. Also left to miss her are countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, as well as her two little dogs, who she loved dearly.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the exceptional staff of The Care Team Hospice, who did a wonderful job caring for Lois during her final days.
