Lena M. Burch

Our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the age of 94 years. 

Lena was born on May 1, 1930, daughter of the late Roy and Esther (Slick) Spangler, in Hemlock. She married Edsel T. Burch on January 26, 1952. He predeceased her on July 5, 2003. Lena retired from Saginaw General Hospital after many years of dedicated service as a labor and delivery registered nurse. She was a member of the Saginaw General Hospital Alumni Association and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. After retirement, she loved traveling with Ed, whether it was by bus, plane or car. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, flower gardening and caring for cat, Lizzy. 

Lena is survived by her sons, Thomas (Sandra) Burch and David (Genevieve) Burch; grandchildren, Michael (Kristine) Burch, Ryan (Ellie) Burch and Nathan Burch; great grandsons, Alex and Samuel Burch; sister-in-law, Melva Spangler; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Matthew Spangler, her sisters, Myrta Schultheiss, Wanda Shinabarger and Iris LaDuke.

Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at W. L. Case and Company, 201 N. Miller Road. Deacon Jeff Rauschert will officiate with burial in Richland Township Cemetery, Hemlock. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday at the chapel from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
