Laurie (Erway) Westphal

It is with deep sorrow and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Laurie Westphal, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, niece and friend, who departed this life on April 28, 2025 at the age of 62.

Born on November 3, 1962 in Saginaw, Laurie devoted her life to her family. She was the proud and loving mother of five children, each of whom she cherished beyond measure. Her children were her greatest pride and joy, and she poured her heart into raising them with unwavering love, strength, and wisdom. Her legacy lives in the lives of her children and grandchildren who brought her endless joy.

Laurie was known not only for her deep unconditional love and generosity but also for her sharp wit, wonderful sense of humor and infectious laugh. She could light up a room with her quick one-liners and made everyone around her feel like family, and every family member feel like the most important person in the world.

She is survived by her five devoted children: Tyler (Stephanie) Glavens , Erin (Rosie) Glavens, Carter (Debbie) Westphal, Austin Westphal and Cooper (Erin) Westphal and her cherished grandchildren, Kaya, Caiden, Charli, Hazel, Blaze and a beautiful baby boy expected in August who will carry forward her spirit of kindness, resilience, and joy.

She also leaves behind her brothers and sisters David (Beverly), Scott (Chris), Theresa (Steve), Chuck (Audrey), Cherie (Chris) and Ellen (Curtis) along with Brian Westphal, several nieces and nephews, and many friends who were blessed to know her.

She was predeceased in death by her parents Judith Ellen Erway and LaVerne (Bernie) Erway.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that her love and laughter will live on in every life she touched. Her legacy is not just in the family she raised, but in the way she made people feel—seen, loved, and always welcomed. She will be missed more than words can express but her spirit will echo in stories, smiles and spontaneous moments of joy for years to come.

A memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2025 at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd.
