Laura S. Propp of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on Monday, September 28, 2026, at Chesaning Comfort Care. She was 68 years old. Laura S. Delfs was born on May 17, 1958, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Robert William Delfs and Gayl Hall Vertrees.

Laura was a 1976 graduate of Flint Central High School. Following graduation, she briefly attended a Bible college in Iowa. Upon her return to Michigan, Laura attended Saginaw Valley State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English. While working at Render’s Restaurant in Bridgeport, she met the love of her life, Steven Propp. They began dating, fell in love, and were united in marriage on May 5, 1979. He survives her.

Laura was a longtime and faithful member of New Life Christian Fellowship. Throughout her life, she held various retail management positions, including at Olive Garden. However, the position she loved most was serving as the store manager at Waldon Books. Above all, Laura treasured her role as a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Becoming a grandmother brought her immeasurable joy, and having grandchildren made her life feel complete and her heart full.

Laura had a deep love for writing and was especially proud to have her work published in Voices of Michigan: An Anthology of Michigan Authors, including her piece, “A Fine Day for Varmint Hunting.” Hoping to write many more books, she also spent time documenting her life and experiences for her children, grandchildren, and future generations of her family. Laura loved capturing special moments in time through photographs and enjoyed going to garage sales and antiquing in search of unique treasures that spoke to her soul.

Laura also had an exceptional memory and could often recite plays and statistics from Detroit Lions games that she and Steven enjoyed watching together. She will forever be remembered for her selfless generosity towards her family and friends, her fun-loving spirit, and her ability to truly embrace life. She leaves behind a lifetime filled with beautiful memories, stories, laughter, and love that will continue to be cherished by all who knew her.

Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Steven Propp of Saginaw; two sons, Steven Daniel (Elizabeth) Propp of Saginaw and Robert Propp of Saginaw; four grandchildren, Emily Rose Propp, Isabelle Marie Propp, Hailey Elizabeth Propp, and Lili Anne Propp; four siblings, Bonnie Baldwin, Michael Paul Vertrees, Robert James Douglas Vertrees, and Julie Delfs; and a lifelong and special friend, Maria Woods. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Chesaning Comfort Care and Covenant at Home for all the love and care they provided to Laura, as well as to her family. They truly treated her like family and cared for her with the grace, compassion, and dignity she deserved.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Joseph Lee Propp; mother, Gayl Hall Vertrees; and father, Robert William Delfs.

Honoring Laura’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Laura’s life will take place at a later date.
