Obituary

Kenneth Allen Oswald, age 97, of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on December 31, 2025.

Kenneth was born on April 15, 1928, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Fred and Lena (Bollinger) Oswald. Kenneth graduated from Arthur Hill Tech in 1945, he immediately embarked on a path of craftsmanship, skillfully honing his abilities as an electrician. Kenneth served honorably in the United States Navy, where he not only fulfilled his service to his country but also discovered his lifelong passion as an electrical contractor.

He had a lengthy career with Hugh Laundra Electric before founding his own enterprise, Oswald Electric. After retirement he attended the Midland Senior Center weekly for lunch, cards, and fellowship. He enjoyed serving within the handyman program of the senior center. He enjoyed the summer months at his home in the Upper Peninsula, while enjoying the winter months at his home in Texas.

Beyond his professional life, Kenneth was actively involved as a little league coach and Boy Scout Leader. He was a proud Scout Master for Troop 321 and started Troop 316. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. He enjoyed exercising at the YMCA, approaching his well-being with the same diligence he applied in all aspects of his life.

He joins his former wife, Gerry (Neidhardt) Oswald, and his cherished partner, Marilyn McGarrity, in eternal rest, their lives intertwined with his in stories of shared laughter and love. He is also preceded in death by his three sisters, Eva Cobb, Helen Ames, and Jane Welch.

Kenneth is survived by three children, Mark (Connie) Oswald, Leigh Ann Oswald, and Kevin Oswald; three grandchildren, Lindsay Oswald, Allison (Nick) Olivo, and Matthew (Kristy) Oswald; six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Reese, Hunter, Ethan, Eleanor, and Elliott.

He is also survived by Marilyn’s son, Thomas (Lori) McGarrity; Marilyn’s grandchildren: Kristine (Charles) Robins, Zsa Zsa (Kyle) Browne, Amy Jo (Scott) Weimer, Robert (Amy) Brethauer, David (Amanda) McGarrity, Laura (Joseph) Kraszewski, and Michael Brethauer. He also leaves to cherish his memory, numerous other relatives.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Aldersgate Church, 2206 Airfield Ln, Midland, MI 48642, at a date and time to be announced later. Friends may visit with the family at the church one hour prior to the memorial service.
