Kenneth “Ken” Wilsey
Hemlock, MI
Passed away on April 22, 2024, at the age of 89. Ken was born on September 3, 1934, in Cross Village, MI, and spent most of his life in Hemlock, MI.
Ken was a man of many talents and passions. In his earlier years, he dedicated himself to community service through various avenues such as the Hemlock Jaycees and the Hemlock Volunteer Fire Department. He was particularly passionate in his role in establishing and developing the Hemlock Little League program. Ken's commitment to his community earned him the Distinguished Service Award for outstanding service – a true testament to his generous spirit.
He retired after 44 years of service as an electrician at Dow Chemical Company. Post-retirement, he spent a significant amount of time meticulously making wooden furniture for his and Helen’s home, as well as for their children and grandchildren.
Ken leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter cherished by those closest to him. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Helen, (the boss of the house, Ken was boss of the garage). Their four fabulous children; Norm Wilsey (Chris) – previous athlete now an athletic supporter; Linda Dorr (Pat) – Betty Crocker extraordinaire; Karen Kern – the favorite, well she likes to think that; Bob Wilsey (Sue) Ken’s wood working protégé. Additionally, Ken is survived by eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren who will always carry a piece of his playful spirit with them. Also surviving Ken are his brother Jim, sister Joyce, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In eternal rest, Ken reunites with his parents Alice and Harvey Wilsey, several brothers, and his beloved grandson Matthew Dorr.
