Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at her home, with her family at her side; at the age of 96 years.

The daughter of the late Archie and Ella (Lange) McPhee, Kathryn was born on April 29, 1925 in Fremont Township, Michigan. She married George C. Schrems on November 11, 1950; he preceded her in death on January 19, 2007. Kathryn was a secretary for the Diocese of Saginaw for 17 years of loyal and dedicated service until she retired. She was a long-time member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Kathryn enjoyed caring for her family, dancing and socializing. Above all, Kathryn cherished the time spent with her family.

Surviving are four sons, four daughters and their spouses: Daniel and Linda Schrems, Saginaw; James Schrems, Bay City; Mary Hincka, Saginaw; Joseph Schrems and Annie Houlihan, Saginaw; Eileen and David Kaufmann, Saginaw; William Schrems, Bay City; Peggy and Mark Garabelli, Traverse City; Janet McKim, Saginaw; one daughter-in-law: Susie (Mike) Heiges, Saginaw; sixteen grandchildren: Shelly (Scott) Chodbod, Kathy Pearsall, Jeff (Tina) Schrems, Michael (Monica) Schrems, Steven (Elizabeth) Schrems, Jamie (David) Wieland, Jessica (Kevin) Wasalaski, Marc (Valerie) Schrems, Lindsey (Lowell) Cramer, Katie (CJ) Schrems, Emily Schrems, Connor Schrems, Christine (Kevin) Shattuck, Rachel Garabelli, Nicole Garabelli; fourteen great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Myrtle Schmidt, Mary McPhee; and her bonus daughter: Sara Cobb. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and extended family members. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Kandy, Jenna, Nanner, and Candice for their kind and compassionate care of Kathryn.

Besides her husband and parents; Kathryn was preceded in death by her son-in-law: James Hincka; her grandson: Scott Hincka; two sisters: Margaret (Frank) Hart, Dorothy (Roland) Erskine; her brother: Donald McPhee; four brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law: Elmer (Emma) Schrems, Joseph Schrems, Michael (Patricia) Schrems, Marie (Jack) Murphy, Margaret (Thomas) Kennelly, Robert Schmidt, Sister Michaela Schrems.

Funeral liturgy will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at St. Dominic Parish, SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 4735 W. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Steven Gavit and Rev. Fr. Jack Johnson will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Dominic Parish, SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
