Katherine "Kate" Mae Vedrode

Katherine "Kate" Mae Vedrode of St. Louis, Michigan, formerly of Merrill

Beloved sister, aunt, cousin, and friend passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Schnepp's Nursing & Rehab Center in St. Louis. She was 63 years old. Katherine Mae Vedrode was born on November 28, 1959, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Ernest Alexander and Retta Mae (Riegle) Vedrode. She proudly attended Merrill High School, and as a young lady, she actively participated in the Special Olympics. Kate was raised within the Catholic Faith laying the foundation to remain a kind and beautiful spirit her entire life. Though she could be a little sassy or spunky, Kate always chose to be jolly, happy, and sweet to those she loved. A practical joker at heart, she took great pleasure in joking around and making others smile and laugh. Kate held a deep love and affinity toward all children, especially the many nieces and nephews she treasured and cherished, they were her little piece of heaven. She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and always cheered for her favorite Tiger, Miguel Cabrera. Kate also enjoyed playing Bingo, cards, putting together puzzles, and loved all of her sugary treats. Kate left her indelible mark in this world through her compassion to anyone in need, for loving everyone unconditionally with a warm and special sweetness, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful stories and memories.

Surviving are seven siblings: Gerald (Carol) Vedrode of Levering; Patricia (Gary) Ferguson of NC; Louis (Janice) Vedrode of Sanford, Angela (Kevin) Wolfgang of Hemlock, Julia (Joe) McClintic of St. Louis, Liz Vedrode and her significant other, Tom Stroebel of Wheeler, Monica Wolfgang and her significant other, Paul Haynes of Wheeler. Also surviving are many loved and cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Retta Vedrode; and a brother-in-law, Chuck Wolfgang.

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Schnepp's Nursing & Rehab Center and Careline Hospice for all the love and care they provided to Kate and the family. Cremation has taken place.
