Katherine Gail Melton

Katherine Gail Melton Largo, Florida Formerly of Saginaw, Michigan Katherine Gail Melton was born February 5, 1964 in Saginaw, Michigan to Clayton Frost and Fay Shippey. Kathy was the second oldest of four daughters. She was born and raised in the Saginaw area before moving to Key Largo, Florida. Kathy returned to Michigan only to go back to Florida for her final years. Kathy was employed with NEMCSA Headstart as a preschool teacher for nearly 12 years; child development and teaching young children was her true calling in life. She enjoyed making a positive difference in the lives of kids. Kathy was an outgoing person who had a great sense of humor and could make anybody laugh. She was a strong and independent woman with a fierce personality. Kathy loved to watch her daughter cheer and her son play baseball through their early years. She was an exceptional cook and a talented writer. She enjoyed motorcycle riding and moments on the beach. Kathy loved traditions and spending time with her family; especially for Christmas. Her biggest love by far was her grandchildren. On Tuesday, October 11, 2016 God called Kathy from labor to reward after 52 years on this Earth. She departed this life amongst her family. Kathy fought a good fight and finished her course. She was preceded in death by her father, Clayton Frost. Those left to celebrate her life include her two children; Alyssa Rochelle and Ryan James, beloved mother; Fay (Harry), three sisters; Carolyn (Brian), Penny, and Kim (Rick), three grandchildren; De'Amor, Bently, and Hank, nieces and nephews; Nicole (Tony), Derek (Justine), Leanne, and Darbie, along with a host of other family and friends. The family would like to express special thanks to the Suncoast Hospice staff in Pinellas Park, Florida for their exceptional care and kindness during our toughest hours. Memorial services will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 28, 2016 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church located at 2565 N. Miller Rd. Saginaw, MI. Pastor Edward Meyer will officiate. Kathy's family will receive friends at St. Mark's on Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the Suncoast Hospice of Pinellas Park, Florida in memory of Kathy.
