Karen Esther Forbes age 80 of Hemlock, MI passed away suddenly at home on Monday February 10, 2020. Karen was born December 2, 1939 to John Peter and Esther Wilita (White) Weigandt in Saginaw, MI where she also attended grade and high school.

Karen had a passion for cooking, crafts & painting ceramics, wildlife and road trips throughout the Midwest. She loved music, singing, karaoke and was a big fan of Elvis. She always had a song in her heart and her favorites were Patsy Cline, Kenny Rogers, Anne Murray and familiar Lutheran hymns. For years, she was an Avon representative and loved the socializing that came with sales and collecting the unique Avon containers. She volunteered for the American Cancer Society and managed several campaigns in Saginaw County. Karen had a quick sense of humor and loved to engage in conversation. Most of all, she had a big heart and cared deeply for her family & friends.

Karen was married to Donald A. Forbes and together they had six sons and one daughter which they raised in Freeland, MI.

Surviving are six children: Debbie Renwick of Freeland, MI; David (Elsie) Forbes of Buhl, MN; Darren (Kathy) Forbes of Hudson, WI; Donald (Jeannette) Forbes of Boyne City, MI; John (Teresa) Forbes of Durand, MI; Kevin Forbes of Hemlock, MI; nine grandchildren: Kelly Schweitzer; David, Duane and Danielle Forbes; Amanda Forbes-Winspear, Kelsey Forbes; Jared, Eric & Benjamin Forbes; Elizabeth Forbes; eight great grandchildren; a sister: Lois Weigandt Mead of Saginaw, MI; a brother: Larry Weigandt of Bridgeport, MI; and many loved nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her husband: Donald in 2014; a son: James D. Forbes in 2004; an infant granddaughter: Barbara Renee Forbes; sister: Ardis Weigandt Yax; and brother: Daniel Weigandt.

A funeral service celebrating Karens life will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 29, 2020 at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, Saginaw. Rev. Stanley R. Dulaney will officiate with burial to follow at Easton Cemetery, New Lothrop. Friends may visit the family on Friday from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral chapel.
