Julie Ann Stevens, 76, of Saginaw, MI, beloved wife of Morrison Martin Stevens, died Friday, December 1, 2023 peacefully in her home.
Julie was born January 24, 1947 in Pontiac, MI. She later moved to Ann Arbor and she graduated from Ann Arbor Pioneer High School. She attended Michigan State University receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. She met the love of her life, Morrison Martin Stevens, on a blind date at an MSU vs. Notre Dame football game in October of 1966. Throughout her life she worked as a Social Worker, at the family business, Stevens Van Lines and she was co-owner of Nails by Julie and Gail.
Julie was passionate about making a difference in her Community and Country with giving of her time and treasure to the Saginaw Children’s Zoo, Temple Theatre, The Stevens Center for Family Business at SVSU, First Presbyterian Church, Saginaw Symphony, Delta College Foundation, Junior League of the Great Lakes Bay Region, Saginaw County GOP Executive Committee and the Saginaw Panhellenic Society.
Julie and Morrie raised their 4 children in Thomas Township where they have been lifelong residents. Julie will be remembered for her generosity, spontaneity and smile that lights up a room. Julie cherished time with her family and ten grandchildren. Julie held a special place in her heart for her beloved dogs. Along with volunteering, she loved decorating, knitting, Diet Coke, dock time, Bridge with her friends and travel.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Morrison Martin, daughters Angie (Chris) Mehring, Lindsay (Brian) Eggers and sons Morrie (Dawn), Jr. Stevens and Peter (Casey) Stevens, as well as their ten grandchildren, William, Colin and Andrew Mehring, Audrey and Garrett Eggers, Hazen and Grace Stevens, Mac, Archer and Britton Stevens. Also survived by her three siblings, Barbara Campbell, Susie Nichols and James Burnes. Julie was proceeded in death by her parents, Dorothy (Modlin) Presley and Robert Burnes.
The family wishes to thank Michelle, a long-time caregiver and A & D Home Care and Hospice.
A Memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Frist Presbyterian Church of Saginaw, 121 S. Harrison St. Rev. Ted McCulloch will officiate. Friends may visit with the family at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 201 N. Miller Rd. from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2023 and on Thursday at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service.
