Obituary

Judy Ann Gengler (Coughlin), age 77, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on April 15, 1948, in Flint, Michigan. Judy grew up in Chesaning, where she formed the roots of the family-centered spirited life she would build.

Judy is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Ken, and their six children: Randy (DeeDee), Chuck, Doug, Katheryn (Tom), Angela (Ken) Bourbina, and Sarah; she was the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren: Kate, Allison, Tyler, Hannah, Maggie, Jessie, Emma, Matthew, and William; and one cherished great-grandson, Tracesyn. Also surviving is a special friend, Norma Gross.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Kathryn (Flynn) Coughlin; and two brothers and two sisters: Rose, MaryLou, Pat, and Johnny.

Family, was at the heart of everything Judy liked to do. She was witty, funny, and always a joy to be around. Judy loved to play Bingo, going camping, and cheering on her children and grandchildren who participated in sporting events through the years. She was an avid reader, a dedicated traveler, and especially treasured spending winters in Florida with her husband. Judy also loved playing Setback and Euchre with her friends, filling many evenings with laughter and friendly competition.

Throughout her three-year battle with brain cancer, Judy remained determined, courageous, and full of hope. She never gave up. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Clarke at the University of Michigan for his exceptional care, compassion and for always giving Judy hope.

A funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Januay 20, 2026, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd., Saginaw, MI 48609. Rev. Fr. Peter J. Gaspeny will officiate. Honoring Judy’s wishes, cremation will follow the service. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
