Joyce Antonia Cannon (Civello)

Our loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away with her family by her side in Saginaw, Michigan, on Monday, October 16, 2023, at the age of 90. Joyce was born on March 27^th, 1933, in Flint, Michigan, to the late James & Jennie (Masucci) Civello, and was a 1951 graduate of St. Joseph’s High School. She met William “Bill” Cannon through a mutual friend of Bill’s and the pair would marry on May 5^th, 1962, spending over 61 years of marriage together. He survives her. Throughout her working years, Joyce was a dental assistant and a secretary for Youth for Understanding, but found the greatest purpose as a mother and grandmother. Her large family and Italian heritage were her greatest sources of pride, and she delighted in family gatherings, especially during the holidays. Joyce never missed one of her children or grandchildren’s sporting events, and was a passionate supporter of the Detroit Tigers. Joyce’s Italian personality was seen in her love of Mob movies and spicy food, and you could be sure that you always knew what was on her mind. Her loving nature and unique sense of humor will be missed by many.

Joyce is survived by her husband of over 61 years, Bill Cannon; children Tony Cannon, Judi Lynn, and Dan Cannon; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and brother-in-law John DeGulio; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her son James Joseph Cannon and sisters Joanne (Vito) Tutera and Mary Jane DeGuilio.

In accordance with Joyce’s wishes, cremation is to take place, with a private memorial service planned for a later date.
