Joseph John McCliggott, Sr., loving father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend to many, passed away suddenly October 21, 2022 at his winter get away in Brooksville, FL

Joe was born August 1, 1959 in Saginaw, MI to Lorraine (Schwartzly) and Arthur McCliggott.  He graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1977.  Joe worked as a Journeyman Carpenter for well over 30 years and was a member of Carpenter Union Locals 687 and 334. He was proud to have been involved in building the Zilwaukee Bridge and was especially proud of the family home he built for his mother on Sanford Lake.

After retirement, Joe moved to Port Austin, MI where he pursued his passion for hunting and fishing.  He was an avid outdoorsman and spent many happy hours with his family, close friends and his son Joseph II who follows Joe’s example teaching his sons to hunt and fish.

Joe is survived by his daughter, Jill McCliggott, his son, Joseph McCliggott II and 6 grandchildren, Cameron, Colton, Chloe, Conner, Ciara and Camden.  He is also survived by his sisters, Karen (Jim) Mossner-Rechsteiner, Debbie McCliggott and his niece/Goddaughter Deire Piotrowski.  He leaves many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews he truly adored.

Preceding him in death are his parents, brothers Michael, Patrick and Daniel and his granddaughter Ciana Leigh McCliggott.

At Joe’s request, cremation has taken  place in Florida.  The family will announce a memorial service in the spring.
