Joseph “Hump” Francisco Verdusco of Saginaw, Michigan, was born on November 18, 1966, to Joseph and the late Anita (Velasquez) Verdusco. He was born and raised in Saginaw, attended Saginaw High School where he played football and wrestling, graduating in 1985. Joe also attended Michigan Technological University where he received his associate’s degree in culinary arts. He worked several jobs including Zestos Restaurant, Red Lobster, and Genesee Packing. Joe was also known lovingly as “Hump” by his closest friends and family. An avid sports fan, he cheered for his favorite teams, the Detroit Lions, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Detroit Pistons. Above all he treasured and cherished his family and enjoyed playing Dominos, Poker, and Spades.
Joseph passed away on July 1, 2026, at Covenant Hospital. He is survived by his father, Joseph Verdusco; siblings: Phillip (Alina) Verdusco, Antonia Verdusco, David (Michelle) Verdusco, and Delores (Marcos) Garcia; nieces and nephews: Francisco (Magen Kelly) Verdusco, Christine (Daniel Juarez) Verdusco, Ciana Verdusco, Herlinda (Emmanuel Mathis) Verdusco, Marcos Garcia Jr., Anita Garcia, and Rosa Valdez; great-nieces and great-nephews: Myra Verdusco, Jose Verdusco, Ky’rie Mathis, and Aaliyah Juarez; special friends: Michael Russ, Navillus Hamilton, Aaricka Kellum, Rich Benavides, the Rosas Family, and many special cousins.
Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Anita Verdusco; grandparents: Francisco and Antonia Velasquez and Joseph and Josephine Verdusco; brother, Marshall “Tilly” Kellum; nephew, Phillip “Man” Verdusco Jr.; and sister-in-law, Colleen “Suga” Verdusco.
A funeral service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd., Saginaw, MI 48603. Rev. Fr. Alberto Vargas will officiate. Honoring Joseph’s wishes cremation will follow the service. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m. Please share your thoughts and memories with the family at the funeral home or through www.casefuneralhome.com.
