Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away on September 18, 2026, in his home with his family at his side from complications of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). He was 72 years old.

The son of the late John and Emily (Riker) Snyder was born July 13, 1954, in Hackensack, New Jersey. He graduated from Nyack High School, New York. John completed his undergraduate BS ’76 and postgraduate MS ‘80 degrees in Civil Engineering at Michigan Technological University. He married Barbara Johnson on November 3, 1979; she survives him. In 2001, John and Mike Staley, founded Snyder & Staley Engineering, where he worked as a structural engineer before retiring to West Branch. John was an avid sports fan. He loved baseball, especially the Yankees, and had a passion for hockey, always watching the NY Rangers and Michigan Tech, going to Tech games whenever he could. John also loved fishing and enjoyed coaching his daughters in recreation and club soccer.

John is survived by his wife, Barbara, three daughters: Katherine (Alex) Kennedy, Mary (Joseph Doty) Snyder, and Jamie (Jeremy) Blair; three grandsons, Patrick, John, and Alexander; sister, Ruth (Joseph) Konecni; sister-in-law, Sue (Tony) Stempky; nieces and nephews: Jennifer (Blake) Hacking, Michael Konecni, Joseph Stempky, and Laura (Mark) Infante; as well as several cousins and friends.

Honoring John's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw, MI 48603. Please check back for updated information.
