Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, John Joseph Glazier, who peacefully passed away on July 2, 2026, at the age of 77.

John was born on October 18, 1948, in Merrill, Michigan, to Henry and Delores (Dobson) Glazier. Throughout his life, he was known for his quiet strength, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. He met and married Josephina Gagne on November 1, 1969 and built a beautiful life and family. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, and was a member of the VFW Post 7302 and the Knights of Columbus.

Though often a man of few words, John possessed a wisdom that spoke volumes and a quick wit that could bring a smile to anyone's face.

Family was at the center of John's life. He treasured the time he spent with his children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Some of his children's fondest memories are of riding along with him on tractor rides when they were young, enjoying the simple moments that John made so special. He found joy in life's quiet pleasures, especially tending to his garden and spending time outdoors. He had a unique way of making people feel comfortable and cared for, offering thoughtful advice when it was needed and a humorous remark when it was least expected.

Later in his life, you would often find John at the local coffee house, enjoying lunch, a good cup of coffee, and chatting with his close friends.

John is survived by his loving wife, Josephina; his sons, John Henry (Amanda) Glazier, and Anthony (Elizabeth) Glazier; his sister, Janet Coryell; his grandchildren, Bronzon, Gracie, Mitchell, Colton, and McKenna; as well as many other family members and friends that will hold his memory close.

Alongside his parents, he is preceded in passing by his brother-in-law, Pete Coryell; sister, Maryann Stewart; and brother, Henry Glazier and his wife Leah "Aunt Toot".

A funeral service in honor of John is set for Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Church, 445 S. Midland St, Merrill, MI 48637. Family will receive guests on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at W.L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 125 E Saginaw St, Merrill, MI 48637, and again Thursday from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00 at the church. John will be laid to rest following the service at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Military honors will be help at the cemetery under the auspices of the American Legion Post 439.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial donation in honor of John to the VFW Post 7302, 17595 W Gratiot Rd, Richland Twp, MI 48626.

While our hearts are saddened by his passing, we take comfort in the many memories he leaves behind and the lasting impact he had on his family and friends. John will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.
