Joan Kay Vacik

Joan Kay Vacik of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Chesaning Comfort Care. She was 83 years old. Joan Kay Tomasik was born on August 19, 1939, in Rush Township, Shiawassee County, Michigan, to the late Joseph and Anna (Blahut) Tomasik. She was a proud 1957 graduate of Elsie High School. Following graduation, Joan began working at the Clinton National Bank and Trust in Elsie, rising to the position of the youngest female Branch Manager in the State of Michigan. She met the love of her life, Clarence "Clem" F. Vacik, at a polka dance, Clem was playing in the band. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on October 30, 1965, at St. Cyril Catholic Church in Bannister; he preceded her in death on September 2, 2003. The role of her lifetime, and one she truly treasured and cherished, was to be the most loving and supportive wife and mother. Joan was a longtime and faithful member of St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary Catholic Church. Her little piece of heaven was watching her grandchildren's sports events, and spending time with her beloved family and friends. An excellent homemaker for the remainder of her life, Joan always kept her home tidy, clean, and organized. She will forever be remembered for upbeat yet beautiful energy and enthusiasm, for having a kind, caring, and loving spirit, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.

Surviving are a daughter, Carol (Kevin) Mayer of Montrose; son, Karl (Lori) Vacik of Saginaw; three grandchildren: Grant Vacik, Cameron Vacik, and Valerie Mayer.
