Joan Marie Eaves of James Township
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, August 13, 2026. She was 69 years old. Joan Marie Adams was born on September 26, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Francis Gazel and Marion Madeline (Langley) Adams. She was a proud 1975 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. While working at Art Sample Furniture, Joan met the love of her life, Kevin John Eaves. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on February 23, 1991; he survives her. She later attended Davenport University, making the dean’s list, and graduating with an associate’s degree in endoscopy. Joan worked as an endo tech at Covenant HealthCare, retiring after 25 years of loyal and dedicated service. The role she treasured and cherished most throughout her life was that of a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family filled her heart with love and joy and was truly the light of her life. She cherished every moment spent with them and took great pride in creating special bonds with every person. Joan was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time golfing, watching and cheering for the Detroit Tigers, as well going out with her two groups of lady friends. She will forever be remembered for her generosity, quick wit, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.
Surviving are her husband of 35 years, Kevin John Eaves of James Township; James “Jimmy” Mochen of Saginaw; Stefanie (Dave) Spence of Saginaw Township; Paige Eaves of CO; five grandchildren: Mykenzie Monroe, Madalyne Carter, Lauren Mochen, Ashlyn Spence, and Avery Spence; a great-grandson: Rehvyn; a sister, Carol (Ron) Yaekel of Hemlock. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends too numerous to mention, but held closely to her heart.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Allisyn Spence; two infant siblings: Beverly and Billy Adams; and parents, Francis and Marion Adams.
A funeral liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Holy Spirt Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd., Saginaw, Michigan 48609. Rev. Fr. Peter J. Gaspeny will officiate.
