Joan Comstock of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper. She was 90 years old. Joan Green was born on August 4, 1935, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Roy James and Rosemary (Dragoo) Green. She was a proud 1954 graduate of St. Mary’s High School. She met the love of her life, Jack A. Comstock, while working at Ray’s Food Fair on the corner of Michigan and Gratiot Road in Saginaw. They were united in marriage on March 2, 1957, in Saginaw, at St. Stephen Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on July 13, 1998. Joan was employed as an assembly line worker at General Motors Plant 2, retiring with 20 years of loyal and dedicated service. The role she treasured and cherished the most was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and an honorary mother to all her children’s friends. Joan and Jack were longtime members of the Saginaw Moose and Elk Lodges. She and her sister Karen enjoyed the many memorable road trips they had taken throughout the state visiting family and taking in the scenery. Artistic with all crafts, Joan enjoyed working on ceramics, crocheting, and she was always willing to create anything new regarding crafts. Though she could be feisty and a little independent, Joan will forever be remembered for the love and care she had for her family, her selflessness to anyone in need, and for truly living a wonderful life filled with many wonderful stories and memories.

Surviving are two children: Patricia Ann Comstock of Saginaw; James Edward Comstock of Saginaw; two grandchildren: Rose Sutton of Saginaw; Samuel (Ashlie Marie) Gordon Piwarski of Saginaw; three great-grandchildren: Preston Joseph Sutton, Grant Michael Piwarski, and Gavin Matthew Piwarski; a sister, Karen Maturen of Saginaw; a sister-in-law, Sue Comstock of Saginaw; a daughter-in-law, Yvonne Comstock of Saginaw; and an aunt, Judy Neering of Essexville; Also surviving are two nieces, three nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Rosemary Green; and a son, Thomas Michael Comstock who preceded her in death in 2016.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the 3rd floor staff at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper, especially her day nurse, Jessica, for all the love and care they provided to Joan and the family.

Honoring Joan’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family service will take place at a later date.
