August 9, 1950 — April 18, 2013

Jeffrey O. Johnson

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and a friend to many passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side Thursday, April 18, 2013 age 62 years. Jeff was born in Crystal Falls, Michigan August 9, 1950, the son of the late Douglas O. and Nell (Vassar) Johnson Hogan. He was raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Jeff married Norma G. Hernandez January 30, 1981 and she survives him. He served in the United States Army during the Viet Nam War. He retired from Delphi Corporation in 2006 after 30 years of service. Jeff was a craftsman of all trades. He was an excellent woodworker; an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed going to the casino and lived strumming his guitar and singing, sounding a lot like Johnny Cash. Jeff lived life fully with much fun and was a great storyteller and loved to keep everyone laughing. In addition to his wife, Norma, Jeff is survived by three children, Jeffrey P. (Caroline) Johnson, Richard W. (Lisa) Fowler and Shannon M. Fowler; four grandchildren, Caitlyn, Patience, James and Zachary; three great-grandchildren; his siblings, Wendell (Peggy) Johnson, New York, Gary (Debbie) Johnson, Kim (Mel) Mravic and Cindy (Tom) Foth all of Wisconsin; two sisters-in-law, Noreene Romo and Alma (Robert) Velasquez; a brother-in-law, Raul (Sandra) Hernandez, Texas; many nieces, nephews and friends. He also leaves behind his faithful and loyal companions, Nakeada and Snowball. He was predeceased by his step-father, Eli R. Hogan. The family would like to express their thanks to Covenant Healthcare, Harrison campus; to Matt Nelson from the ICU for his excellent care of Jeff; to everyone on the 7th floor for their care. A special thank you to Katie for her loving care of Jeff and for her help and kindness to his wife and children; and to Dr. Hughes for his special caring and Hospice caregiver, Julia for her help and care. The funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2013 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 3680 S. Washington. Rev. Thomas Schmied will officiate with entombment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Military services will take place under the auspices of VFW Post No. 1859, Carrollton. Friends may visit with the family at W. L. Case & Company, 4480 Mackinaw Rd.
