Jeffrey "Jeff" Neil

Mar 29, 1975 — Oct 21, 2026
Saginaw, Michigan
Jeffrey “Jeff” Neil Terrian of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved brother, uncle, and local musician passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. He was 51 years old. Jeffrey Neil Terrian was born on March 29, 1975, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Dennis Wayne Terrian and the late Julie Ann (Falkenhagen) Near. A lifelong resident of Saginaw, he was a proud 1994 high school graduate, where he formed friendships during his primary years that would last a lifetime. Together, they started a band, where he initially served as a cameraman before taking on the role of drummer.
Following graduation, he began working in lawn care and landscaping. Jeff was a member of the Detroit Stage and Fill Technicians Union IATSE Local 38, as a stagehand. Always the drummer, prior to 2015, he played in many local bands, but after 2015, he formed the band Shadow People with some of his best friends.
Jeff was a gifted, talented, and phenomenal drummer. Simply put, music was his love, passion, and life. Jeff often traveled across the country attending countless venues to watch his favorite bands play live. He was a beautiful gardener, finding pleasure in the simple wonders of nature. Jeff nurtured each flower and plant with patience and care, using his gentle touch and loving heart to transform ordinary places into beautiful places.
A kind soul, he had the innate ability to make the world a better place. He was soft-spoken and thoughtful, and his presence could be felt by anyone that had the pleasure of knowing him. Jeff was loyal to his family, friends, and animals, and brought laughter and light with his wonderful sense of humor. Above all, he treasured and cherished his family, especially his two dogs, Stevie and Sabian, and cat, Ozzy.
Surviving are his partner of 30 years, Amy Royal, her daughter, Adeline (James) Logghe and their three sons: Julian, Alphonse, and Rocky Logghe; father, Dennis W. Terrian; two sisters and a brother: Paul (Betty) Near, Heidi (Ricky) Castillo; and Amy (William) Dice; two nieces and two nephews: Andrew Dice, Travis (Paige) Dice, Lindsey Dice, and Marissa Castillo; and many great-nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his bandmates and the countless friendships he made over the years.
He was preceded in death by his best friend and mother, Julie A. Near; the most wonderful dad in the world, Robert “Bob” Near; and a sister, Denise “Cricket” Terrian.
Honoring Jeff’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Saginaw County Care & Animal Control or Amazing Grace Pet Rescue.
