Janet S. Cook, 77, of Saginaw, MI, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 15, 2017, at Covenant-Cooper. Janet Spencer McDonald was born March 9, 1940, in Saginaw, MI, the daughter of the late James C. and Laura McDonald. She retired from S.B.C. in 2008 after 35 years of service. She was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, where she was a lay-minister. She was active in her Neighborhood Watch program and the Arson Watch program. She enjoyed her involvement in church and community music programs throughout her life, especially being "Mom" to many of the Saginaires Drum and Bugle Corps members. She had a generous heart and was "Mom" and "Grandma" to many. She is survived by her sister Anne McDonald Honsinger; son: Jeffrey Cook (Deana) and sons Alexander Cook and Aaron Cook of Wilmington, DE; daughter: Rebecca Cook Steinke (Kevin) and sons Kyle Steinke and Ryan Steinke of Rockford, MI; daughter-in-law: Rebecca Browning Cook and children: Jessica Cook (daughter: Bria), Justin Cook (daughter: Cheyanne), Allison Cook (sons: Dominic and Edward); niece: Liat Honsinger Marlow (Barry) and sons Benjamin Marlow (Rachel), Zachery Marlow (Stephanie), Spencer Marlow; nephew: TJ Feinauer (Meghann), and niece: Samantha Feinauer. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son James A. Cook and niece Hayley Honsinger Feinauer. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2017, at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 1501 N. Center Rd., Saginaw, MI 48603. Private committal will take place in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, and then at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
