Janet Kretz

Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper, with her family at her side; at the age of 80 years.

The daughter of the late Francis and Lenore (Poyer) Frost, Janet was born on June 12, 1942, in Merrill, Michigan. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School. Janet then continued her education at Delta College. She married James H. Kretz on May 6, 1961, at Sacred Heart Church, Merrill, Michigan; he survives her. She was a member of St. Dominic Parish, SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Janet enjoyed reading, gardening, crocheting blankets, camping, traveling, especially going on cruises with her sisters. Above all, Janet cherished the time spent with her family and loved ones; especially attending all of their life events.

Surviving besides her husband of 61 years: James H. Kretz; are their two sons, daughter, and their spouses: James E. and Theresa Kretz, Julie and Matt Boyle, Gary Kretz; grandchildren: Stephen  Kretz, Kevin (Abby) Kretz, Matthew (Brittany) Kretz, Kelly (John) Herzler, Jennifer Kretz, Christine (Tyler) Zirges, Allison Boyle; great-grandchildren: James Oliver Herzler, Sienna Herzler, Fallon Kretz, Warren Kretz, Blake Burnison, George Kretz, Clark Zirges; brothers and sisters: Robert (Linda) Frost, Marlyn Kuch,  Sue Ann Beougher, Rodney Frost, Richard (Janet) Frost, Jackie (Tom) Kennedy. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Janet was preceded in death by her grandson: Tyler James Kretz.

A Memorial Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2023, at St. Dominic Parish, SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 4735 W. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48638. Rev. Fr. Steve Gavit will officiate. Friends may visit the family from 9:00 a.m. until the time of mass at the church. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Dominic Parish, SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
