Jane Marie Prast of Freeland, Michigan formerly of Hemlock
Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Aunt, and Friend passed away peacefully on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Covenant Skilled Nursing & Rehab at Wellsprings. She was 91 years old. Jane Marie Badour was born on March 31, 1935, in Essexville, Michigan, to the late Fred and Irma (Voss) Badour. She attended St. John’s High School of Essexville graduating in 1953. While out dancing, she met the love of her life, Charles A. Prast. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on April 15, 1961; he preceded her in death on January 21, 2010. She worked as a Dental Receptionist, but the role of her lifetime was to be a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Jane was a longtime and faithful member of St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary Catholic Church in Hemlock. She volunteered her time with the church as a member of the League of Catholic Women. Jane enjoyed spending time fishing, reading, playing Bingo and cards. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren, attending their sporting and school events, and wintering in Sebring, Florida. Jane was an avid dog lover, especially her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Angel. She will forever be remembered for her friendly and outgoing spirit, as well as her innate ability to make friends wherever she went.
Surviving are three children: Daniel (Elizabeth) Prast of Ann Arbor; Timothy (Kelly) Prast of Merrill; Lori (Michael) Rybicki of Freeland; eight grandchildren: Brendan Prast, Megan Prast, Vincent (Ashley) Prast, Holly Prast, Joseph (Maggie) Rybicki, Benjamin (Alexis) Rybicki, Leiya Rybicki, Evelynn Rybicki; great-grandchildren: Shanley Prast, Elliette Rose Hall, and Aubrie Pullman. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Prast; parents Fred and Irma Badour; brother, James (Margaret) Badour; and sister-in-law, Patsy Badour.
A funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary Catholic Church, 151 St. Mary’s Drive, Hemlock, MI 48626. Rev. Fr. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 201 N. Miller Rd., Saginaw, MI 48609 on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a vigil service held at 7:00 p.m. Jane will lie in state at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. John XXIII Parish or St. Jude Chilren’s Research Hospital.
