James “Jimmy” Gerald Giltrop of Birch Run, Michigan

Beloved brother, uncle, cousin, and friend passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, August 3, 2026. He was 74 years old. James Gerald Giltrop was born on February 1, 1952, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late James Henry and Rose Annette (Seuss) Giltrop. He was a proud 1970 graduate of Bridgeport Spaulding High School. Following graduation, Jimmy began working at Michigan Sugar in Carrollton where he ascended through the ranks, retiring after 30 years of loyal and dedicated service. He was later employed with the Outlets of Birch Run as a maintenance worker, finally retiring after seven years of service. Jimmy was a man of solitude, simplicity, and small talk. He enjoyed spending time tending to his yard and flowers, going to dinner at his niece, Jen’s home, and tinkering on cars with his cousin. Jimmy had a deep love and admiration for all animals, especially cats. Animals truly made his heart and soul happy.

Surviving are two sisters: Margo Benkert of Frankenmuth; Julia (Charles) Keinath of Kingston; a special niece, Jennifer Simpson and her boyfriend, Michael Ninke of Saginaw; two aunts: Joann Popp and Lorraine Psiuk; a special friend, DC; Also surviving are many cousins, extended family and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Rose Giltrop; and a sister, Loretta (John W.) Simpson.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Bridgeport Township Police, MMR, and Saginaw County Medical Examiner’s office for all their help, assistance, and professionalism.
