James "Jim" Carl Liebrecht of Traverse City, formerly of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away at his home, with his wife by his side, on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. Jim was born on January 17, 1941, in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of the late Carl and Helen (Fordos) Liebrecht. He proudly served his country for six years in the United States Navy. Upon his return, Jim began working for General Motors (Saginaw Steering Gear) as a machine repairman, retiring in 1997 after for 37 years of loyal and dedicated service. The role of his lifetime was to be a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He married Sandra "Sandi" (Galiardi) Liebrecht on April 25, 1970; she survives him. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and "sprints" across the Bay to Power Island on his Seadoo. Jim's little peace of heaven was spending time at his home, taking great pride in landscaping his yard. His ears would perk up when he was told he had the most beautiful yard in Traverse City. Jim will forever be remembered for generously using his time and skills to selflessly help others, for his strong faith and love of family, and for his strong work ethic.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Sandi Liebrecht of Traverse City; three sons: Kenneth (Laura) Liebrecht; Robert (Sheila) Liebrecht of Saginaw; Mark (Stephanie) Liebrecht of Birch Run; three granddaughters: Heather, Amber, and Athena; two brothers: Frank (Denice) Liebrecht, Dan Liebrecht; sisters: Mary Jane (John) McKenna, Christine (Bob) McCrea, Joyce (Ed) Zagnnis, and Janice Neely.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Nancy; and a brother, Robert.
The family would like to express their extreme appreciation to Kayla, Jim's nurse from The Care Team Hospice for all the love and care they provided to Jim and the family.
Honoring Jim's wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 12, 2023, at St. Francis & Clare Parish, 12157 Church Street, Birch Run. Rev. Fr. David J. Jenuwine will officiate. Military Honors will follow under the auspices of the United State Navy and American Legion Post 22.
