James “Jim” Robert Brown

Beloved father and grandfather passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Wellspring Lutheran Services Frankenmuth Campus, with his family at his side. Age 81 years.
The son of the late Wilson C. and Evelyn C. (Noyes) Brown, James was born on July 11, 1944, in Saginaw, Michigan. James married the love of his life, Shirley Jean Becker, on June 25, 1966. They shared many wonderful years together. She preceded him in death on April 29, 2025. James retired from General Motors after many years of loyal and dedicated service. He was a member of Bridgeport Community Church and Masonic Lodge. James enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his brother. He also cherished times at Secord Lake, where he would go water-skiing.
Surviving are his daughters, Mary (Larry) Carter, Julie Brown; grandchildren, Eric Carter, James Carter, Cory Carter, Avery Carlton, Matthew Carlton; sisters, Jan Brown, Cathy Zaremba. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Besides his wife and his parents, James was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Robert S. Carlton, and brother, Dan Brown Sr.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Wellspring Lutheran Services for their kind and compassionate care of James.
Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Bridgeport Community Church, 3821 State St, Bridgeport, MI 48722. Rev. Larry Kirkpatrick will officiate with entombment to follow at Oakwood Memorial Mausoleum, with Military Honors rendered by the United States Army and American Legion Post 22. Friends may visit the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the church. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Wellspring Lutheran Services.
