Irene M. Veremis, a beloved member of her community, passed away on January 2, 2026, at the age of 92. She was born on April 9, 1933, in Potidania, Greece, to the late Constantine and Constantina (Stavrakis) Makriannis.

She was married to Thomas Veremis on March 1, 1958, in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada; he survives her.

She dedicated a significant part of her life as a beautician, owning and operating Renee's Beauty Shop in Saginaw. Irene was a devout member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church and actively participated in the Philoptochos, contributing her time and energy to support both her faith and her community.

Irene loved shopping and frequently explored new places through her travels. She had a penchant for entertainment, whether it was hosting parties and family gatherings during holidays or enjoying her time at the casino. Irene’s home was often filled with laughter, good food, and cherished memories, testament to her gift of bringing people together.

Irene is survived by her loving husband, Thomas J. Veremis; her daughter, Dina Haralambis; and her two adored grandchildren, Irina and Maria Haralambis. She is also survived by her brother, Alkis (Rinoula) Makriannis, her beloved sister-in-law, Kelly (George) Makriannis, alongside many nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly.

She was preceded in death by Constantine and Constantina (Stavrakis) Makriannis; her daughter, Joanna Veremis; her son-in-law, Pete Haralambis; and her siblings, Ifigennia, Panayiotis, Angie, and George.

Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026, at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603, where a Trisagion service will be held at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 4970 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603, with Rev. Timothy Cook officiating. Following the service entombment will take place at Oakwood Mausoleum.
