Minto, Irene L. Merrill, Michigan Passed away on May 29, 2014 at the age of 93 years. The daughter of the late Charles and Goldie (Moore) McNier was born on July 28, 1920 in Saginaw County. She graduated from Merrill High School, as salutatorian, the class of 1936. She retired from Merrill High School as a cook, after over 30 years of service. She married Donald B. Minto on July 19, 1940; he predeceased her on April 6, 1972. Irene was a member of the Merrill Congregational Church and the order of the Eastern Stars. She enjoyed gardening. Surviving are her sons: Marvin (Tuddy) Minto, James Minto, 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, a sister Melva (Matthew) Spangler and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Vernon Minto, a daughter-in-law Cheryl Minto, and her siblings: Harold McNier and Vivian McNier-Molton. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Merrill Congregational Church, 245 S. Midland Rd., Rev. Richard Gossett will officiate with burial at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family on Monday at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel in Merrill on Monday from 3:00-7:00 p.m. and at church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
