Herman Gomez of Carrollton, Michigan
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather “Man Man”, brother, and friend passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Ascension – St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw. He was 80 years old. Herman Gomez was born on October 13, 1941, in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, to the late Carmen and Josefa (Gonzalez) Gomez. He was a proud 1958 graduate of Saginaw High School. He met the love of his life, Mary S. Munguia, in high school. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on August 18, 1961; she survives him. Herman worked in the construction industry for many years before spending 25 years in production at General Motors Malleable Iron. Following retirement, he loved spending time at the casino and driving his corvette. Above all, Herman, cherished the role of his lifetime, being a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will forever be remembered for his love of music, finding peace and tranquility fishing, living a quiet life filled with a beautiful smile, and for living a truly amazing life.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Mary S. Gomez of Saginaw; two sons: Andrew Gomez of Saginaw; Stephen “Steve” Gomez of Lansing; three grandchildren: Phil (Kelly) Gomez of Saginaw; Annastasia “AJ” (John) Edwards of Saginaw; Christopher Gomez of Bay City; three great-grandchildren: Alexis Gomez, Jonathan Edwards, and Alexandria Edwards; three brothers: Oscar (Juanita) Gomez of Carrollton; Jose Gomez of Carrollton; Carmen Gomez of Saginaw. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Gomez; and six brothers and two sisters: Apolinar, Albert, Morris, Heriberto, Tony, Alfredo, Eva, and Gloria.
Honoring Herman’s wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of Herman’s life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 8, 2022, at Greater Dimensions Church, 5545 McCarty Road. Pastor Dr. Julian Gonzales will officiate. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
